2009 Newport Vineyards Select Riesling

Grannysmith apple, a little pineapple, honey and spice outline this off-dry riesling well. It has a nice balance of acidity and flavors. Really well-balanced! This is a pretty good effort from a local vineyard here in Rhode Island. I'm not sure of Newport Vineyards' distribution, but if you do happen to visit the area, definitely check it out!

2008 Newport Vineyards Landot Noir

We found this at one of our local vineyards in Rhode Island; not sure of how far out into other states it's distributed. Don't look too hard. Although this wine had some interesting notes coming through, it lacked any finish and complexity. This landot noir was smooth, and had flavors of earth, feet, and prunes. Appetizing I know! It tasted young, had too much heat, and was very light bodied. I'd pass over this wine for another, though we are proud to taste a wine from our native soil!
