This late harvest dessert wine is Vignoles, a popular grape of the Finger Lakes region of NY.
The nose is excellent--honeydew melon and spiced honey with a touch of citrus fill the glass.
We tasted that same spiced honey, some juicy golden apple and even a little caramel! It has a nice herbaceous/grassy note to it that really brings it down to earth.
It is a dessert wine, so expect a considerable amount of sweetness, though it isn't overly so. It's not a fruit bomb of a wine. The finish is long and acidity is just slight. This Vignoles has a wonderful depth of flavors showing complex flavor profiles that are exquisite. Superb effort by Hunt Country Vineyards!
